Today is World Pangolin Day, when we come together to celebrate and raise awareness about one of the most distinctive animals on our planet. But beyond their unique physical features, pangolins have one unfortunate distinction—they are the most illegally trafficked wild mammals on Earth.

This World Pangolin Day, the Pangolin Crisis Fund has released a progress report highlighting some of the most impactful projects that we’re supporting to protect three of Africa’s most endangered pangolin species—the giant pangolin, the black-bellied pangolin, and the white-bellied pangolin. This report also provides you with some insights about the illegal wildlife trade that puts so many pangolins at risk.

In addition to the report, we have a special message to share from Araluen “Azza” Schunmann, Director of the Pangolin Crisis Fund:

Thanks to the support of our incredible donor community and the work of amazing conservationists, there’s still hope to save pangolins from extinction. The problems that pangolins face are bigger than you may think, but so is the opportunity we have to protect their future.

Enjoy our latest progress report, and happy World Pangolin Day!
